Research Interests

Tectonics of Gondwanaland, Antarctica, and Himalaya

 

1968 Research mainly on the tectonics and petrology of Tanzawa Mountains, Central Japan (composed of Tertiary green schists intruded by a tonalitic mass), as the graduate course student, Hokkaido University.

1968-1970 Research on the tectonics and petrology of the Lutzow-Holm Bay area, East Antarctica, as the member of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.

1970-present Research mainly on the tectonics and petrology of metamorphic rocks of the Ryoke Metamorphic Belt of Japan, Antarctica, and Gondwanaland areas, as a staff of the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Science, Osaka City University (by 2001) and as the President of Gondwana Institute for Geology and Environment.

2003.10-present: Research on the tectonics as well as natural hazard of Nepal Himalaya, as the Professor of the Tribhuvan University.
