Founded over 35 years ago, the Department of Geology, Tribhuvan University has a rich tradition of leadership in Earth Science – a tradition that continues through today. The Department has been in the forefront of developing fields ranging from Himalayan tectonics and Himalayan petrology, to structure, to hydrogeology and paleontology, to engineering and environmental geology. Its faculty and researchers and former students have become leaders in academia, in industry, and working at the research laboratories of Nepal and around the world mainly Australia, Europe, Japan, United States of America, and Canada.
